MADHYA PRADESH KARATE ASSOCIATION

Madhya Pradesh Karate Association (MPKA) was incorporated as the non profitable organization under M.P.Govt. (Registered under the Firms & Societies Registration Act) and with the Prime aim and to promote the Unique art of  Self Defense- “Karate Sports” at the Grass root level in all over Madhya Pradesh and to produce Players at National & Inter National Level.

Madhya Pradesh Karate Association (MPKA) is the only State Karate Association for Karate Sports in Madhya Pradesh duly affiliated with M.P Olympic Association and (KAI) Karate Association of India (Recognized by of India., Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Indian Olympic association)

At the outset we would like to introduce our organization as the largest and oldest martial art training institute of Madhya Pradesh, which is imparting karate training in 40 districts of the state and with its headquarter based at Jabalpur, MPKA is continuously working for promotion of sports and martial art.

MPKA is also working towards women empowerment by training them through self defense training under the RMSA Rashtriya Madhayamik Shiksha Abhiyan and Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan.

Presently a Team of about 600 Black Belt Qualified Karate Instructors are imparting Karate Training in Various Educational Institutions, Police Department, Army, RPF, SAF, Clubs, NGO, Tribal Areas and up to Block level of M.P.

We are regularly working towards women empowerment by training them through self defense training Under Rashtriya Madhyamik shiksha  abhiyan (RMSA) & Rajya shiksha Kendra (Kasturba Gandhi Girls Hostel) Schemes.

Now a Days School, Collages, University and Corporate level are not only taking Karate as a Martial Art of Self Defense but also as a Sports.

Sports Karate is now a medal event in School Games (SGFI) , University Games, National Games, SAF Games & Asian Games and Karate is recognized by International Olympic Committee and Olympic Council of Asia.

MPKA AT A GLANCE

  • Madhya Pradesh Karate-Do Association was found in the year 1979 with only three members, Late Sensai Deepak C. Thakur, Sensai A Syed Khan and Sensai Gurjeet Singh Garcha .
  • In October 1979 the first Madhya Pradesh State Karate Championship was conducted in Raipur.
  • In the Same Month MPKA got affiliation from All India Karate-Do Federation (AIKF) the then National Karate Federation.
  • First time MPKA has participated in the 3rd AIKF National Karate-Do Championship in October 1980.
  • Two Members of MPKA, Late Sensei Deepak Thakur and Sensei Gurjeet Singh Garcha have been selected to represent in the world Karate Championship held at Spain, Madrid in November 1980.
  • Under the able Leadership of Pioneer of M.P. Karate Late Sensei Deepak C. Thakur Gradually Karate has been spread to all the district of Madhya Pradesh as per the figures collected by MPKA in 1994., Approx 60,000 Karate kas were learning karate under the banner of MPKA.
  • We and MPKA has lost our Great Master and father figure of MP Karate Sensei Deepak Thakur in 1998.
  • On 1st Nov.2000 After the partition of Madhya Pradesh in to MP and Chhattisgarh, Working Office of MPKA, shifted to Rewa.
  • In the year 2000 the Sports Authority of India has adopted Karate as one of the discipline. Two unit of SAI has been incorporated at DHAR and JABALPUR .
  • The karate scenario of MP has changed very rapidly at National Level.In the Year 2002 the first female participant from MP represented India in 6th Asian Karate Championship held in Japan, September 2002 and another female participant represented in the WKF held in Madrid, Spain, in November 2002.
  • In the Year 2005, MP Karate team has made the History by winning the overall AIKF National Karate Championship for the first time .
  • In the year 2005 the name of MPKA Karate players has been written in Golden letters as in 7th Senior ,Junior and Cadet Asian Karate Championship in Women Team Kata event India has won Bronze Medal “The first ever Medal in Team event in the History of INDIAN KARATE.
  • In 2006 the MP Karate Players have won the record Gold Medals in AIKF National Karate Championship. Our Vice President Hirendra Bahadur Singh efforts and the kind Blessings of the Sports Minister of M.P. Govt, Honourable Yashodhara Raje Sindhiya have announced various Sports Awards in Karate for the first time.
  • In the year 2007 the 33rd national games at Guwahati, the Players of MP in 30 other Disciplines has won only 4 Gold for Madhya Pradesh. In the last two days of the National Games Karate kas from MP Karate Association made an unbeaten history by winning 8 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 bronze. Out of total 12 events in 11 events MPKA Karate kas were in final. After winning those medals the Madhya Pradesh ranked to the 12th Position, First time in History of National Games.
  • On this incredible achievement, the MP Government has given an amount of Rs.27 Lakhs to the players and their coaches. This was the turning point of Karate in MP. Department of Sports and Youth Welfare provided Karate Mats in 10 districts of MP and DSYW has started Martial Art Academy in Bhopal and the credit goes only to MPKA.
  • On the issue of National Games the National Karate Federation AIKF has been splits into Two fractions in the year 2006.AIKF group Headed by Sensei Rameshwar Nirvan has got the recognition from Govt. of India and Indian Olympic Association.
  • In the year 2007 another group of AIKF immerged under the leadership of Sensei Karate R Thiagarajan and in 2008 they have got Recognition by Govt of India. In MPKA also two Groups have immerged One group supporting AIKF headed by Sensei Nirvan and another supporting to the AIKF headed by Sensei Karate R Thiagarajan with three Govt, units Sports Authority of India, M.P. Martial Art Academy and MP Tribal Development department.
  • As the State Karate association of M.P. was registered in 1979 in Raipur named Madhya Pradesh Karate Sangh and after the formation of Chhattisgarh in the year 2000 and the New State Karate association has been registered in Chhattisgarh the AIKF directed us to get a new registration in M.P.
  • On 07th Jan.2010 at INDORE we have decided to form new MPKA and get it registered in M.P.
  • Honorable Shri Ramesh Mandola , President M.P. Olympic Association has extended his full support to our new Madhya Pradesh Karate Association, With his blessings and kind Co operation today the new MPKA has become the ideal & pioneer Karate Association of India by winning continuously 12 times National Karate Championship.
  • In Sept. 2013 World Karate Federation (WKF) has recognized Karate Association of India authorizing as the only National Federation of Karate Sport to participate in WKF Events representing the Country of India.
  • The Madhya Pradesh Karate Association has extended our full support to KAI and we are the founder member of KAI .
  • On 15 Dec.2016 the Annual General Body Meeting of MPKA has been held in Jabalpur and the new Executive Body has been Elected / Nominated for the Term 2016-2020 under the Observation of MPOA and KAI observers.
  • The M.P. Karate team has made a record in the history of karate by winning all the Sub Jr., Cadet, Jr. & Senior National Karate Championship for continuously 12 Years i.e. year 2005 to 2017
